For those of you that are using Payroll here is the Year End information for payroll.  This is a code update and a database backup should be done prior to the update.  Please read the instructions fully.

Microsoft will provide a 2012 Year-End Update to all U.S and Canadian Microsoft Dynamics GP 10.0 Customers.  Microsoft will also provide Round 1 U.S. tax tables for the 2013 Payroll reporting year.  Following these releases, no additional code update will be released for Microsoft Dynamics GP 10.0, due to end of Mainstream Support in the Support Lifecycle for Microsoft Dynamics GP 10.0.  Technical support for Microsoft Dynamics GP 10 will continue to be provided through the Extended Support phase which will end on 10/10/2017.  If you are currently using Microsoft Dynamics GP 10.0, you must upgrade to Microsoft Dynamics GP 2010 or Microsoft Dynamics GP 12 (Due to release in December 2012) to receive any further regulatory and or code updates following the January 2013 Round 1 Tax Update.

Microsoft Dynamics Payroll Tax Update Year End

The US Payroll Year end Update is scheduled to release 11/17.　 This is an update that will be required for U.S. customers to install due to the below list of changes.

Detail of the changes

W2 and W3 changes, EFW2 changes, (magnetic media)

1099 R changes for pension payroll

1099 payables Dividend changes

Fixed Assets luxury depreciation changes

There is also FICA Social Security changes that need to be made for the new 4.2/6.2 work we did prior.

 

**This update will be all inclusive of prior updates for 10 and GP 2010

Is Citrix a supported environment for Dynamics-GP

Recently I had a client that was having a strange issue pop up where the user's could not switch companies.  The system would just stop, I didn't get a not responding, and nothing was happening in SQL it just stopped.  After tooling around for a little bit, trying every option possible I contacted Microsoft to see if there was a known issue.  The support person was very nice and after looking at a couple of logs he informed me that Citrix isn't really supported.  I asked what does that mean really not supported.  He indicated that Citrix is supported to a certain extent, Microsoft doesn't have the expertise to support Citrix so the user has to reproduce the error outside of Citrix for Microsoft to continue to trouble shoot the issue.  The support person mentioned that Terminal Server is fully supported so that lead me to believe that Citrix isn't a supported environment.

Something to keep in mind if Citrix is your deployment method for Dynamics-GP.

Clear Dynamics-GP Companies

Sometimes we remove databases from the Dynamics-GP environment.  Maybe because the database is no longer used or it was a test database that isn't needed anymore and you are cleaning up space.  Either way you still need to clean up the entries in the Dynamics database.  Attached is a script you can run to make sure your Dynamics database is in sync with your system.

Add drill down to your SRS Reports back to Dynamics-GP

Did you know that in GP2010 Microsoft added the ability to add drill down capabilities to your SRS reports?  This adds a seamless integration from SRS reports back to the Dynamics transaction.  To look at this capability go to your Metrics page and you will see an Edit button.  Click the metric or report and click the edit button.  The report builder will launch that will allow you to create the hyper links back to Dynamics from the report.

Resolution for the Issues with the TS RemoteApp Feature and Microsoft Dynamics GP

The Terminal Service RemoteApp (TS RemoteApp) feature is new with Windows Server 2008 and Windows Server 2008 R2.  When Microsoft Dynamics GP was configured with the TS RemoteApp feature, certain pop-up windows would not appear and Microsoft Dynamics GP would appear to "hang" or "lock up".   Because of this issue, Microsoft Dynamics GP 10.0 and Microsoft Dynamics GP 2010 were not supported with the TS RemoteApp feature.

Install this hotfix from Microsoft on your Windows Server 2008 or 2008 R2 to correct this issue.  Hotfix for Terminal Server issue
